Cannabis capsules are capsule pills–like Liquigels, for example–filled with marijuana oil. The capsules themselves are a clear yellow color, and the oil inside is dark and thick.
The Benefits of Cannabis Capsules
Marijuana capsules are beneficial to:
- people who prefer a steady, predictable dose of cannabinoids THC and CBD
- people who don’t want their home or belongings to smell like marijuana
- people who can’t smoke–such as children or those with asthma or other respiratory issues
- people who dislike the taste of edibles
The pills are also very convenient for travel, or for use in a pillbox for people who need to take a regular dose along with other medications.
Conditions Treated by Canna Capsules
Marijuana pills (sometimes known as MMJ capsules) treat many medical conditions.
THC–or tetrahydrocannabinol–is the chemical found in marijuana that produces psychotropic effects. It’s the substance that gives marijuana users that relaxed, mellow feeling, or high. It also has many medical benefits, treating conditions such as:
- nausea from cancer treatment
- neuropathic pain, spasticity, overactive bladder, and other symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis
- anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other mood disorders
- joint pain and other chronic illness pain
CBD–also known as cannabidiol–is another chemical found in marijuana. It treats many of the same medical conditions, without the intoxicating effects.
Together, THC and CBD have powerful healing properties. They can also reduce inflammation in the body, which is the cause of many illnesses (including arthritis, back pain, autoimmune diseases, kidney disease, and more).
How to Make Cannabis Capsules
Though you can purchase MMJ capsules at most dispensaries, you can also make your own. You will need the following ingredients:
- 7 grams of cannabis flowers
- 1/4 cup of extra virgin coconut oil
- food processor
- 00 size gelatin capsules
- capsule filling machine
- slow cooker
Bake buds on a cookie sheet in an oven pre-heated to 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Grind the baked buds into a fine powder.
In a slow cooker, combine powdered buds with coconut oil. A smaller quantity of coconut oil can be used to make canna capsules more potent. Heat the mixture for three to six hours, stirring every 30 minutes.
Set up capsules in filling machine.
Allow mixture to cool for 15 minutes. Strain oil through cheesecloth.
While still warm, fill the capsules.
Once capsules are dry, they can be consumed. Refrigerate capsules to maintain freshness.
Canna Caps Effects
Because marijuana capsules contain THC, you may experience dry eyes and mouth, sleepiness or drowsiness, a relaxed or mellow high feeling and, in some cases, paranoia, confusion, and short-term memory loss.
Marijuana pills can be an excellent way to treat chronic pain, nausea from chemotherapy and other medications, anxiety, and other medical conditions. They are also convenient for regulating dosage and traveling. As with any other treatment, always consult your doctor before using marijuana pills. We hope this gives you some insight as to what cannabis capsules are.
